A number of benefits are available from participating in psychotherapy. As your therapists, we can provide support, problem-solving skills, and enhanced coping strategies for issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship troubles, unresolved childhood issues, grief, stress management, body image concerns, and creative blocks. In addition, we can offer a fresh perspective on a difficult problem or help point you toward a solution. The benefits you obtain from therapy depend on how well you engage in the process and apply what you learn.
Therapy can help you:
Attain a better understanding of yourself, your goals, and values.
Develop skills for improving your relationships.
Find resolution to the issues or concerns that led you to seek therapy.
Learn new ways to cope with stress and anxiety.
Manage anger, grief, depression, and other emotional pressures.

Therapy has been described as a conversation with a purpose. Every therapy session is unique and tailored to the individual and their specific goals. It is standard to discuss the primary issues and concerns in your life during sessions. Most clients schedule a series of weekly sessions, each lasting approximately 50 minutes. Therapy can be short-term, focused on a specific issue, or longer-term, addressing deeper concerns and personal growth. At times, you may be asked to take actions outside of sessions, such as reading a relevant book or keeping a journal to track behaviors or thoughts. Processing and integrating insights between sessions is an essential part of the work.
Those who benefit most from therapy are active participants who take responsibility for their actions, apply what they’ve learned, and commit to lasting change.
Here’s what you can expect from therapy:
Compassion, respect, and understanding.
Perspectives that illuminate persistent patterns and negative feelings.
Real strategies for enacting positive change.
Effective, empirically supported techniques, along with practical guidance.

In general, the law protects the confidentiality of all communications between a client and psychotherapist. No information is disclosed without prior written permission. However, there are legal exceptions to confidentiality designed to protect public safety. These include:
Suspected child abuse, elder abuse, or abuse of a dependent adult. Therapists are required to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.
If a client threatens serious bodily harm to another person, the therapist must notify the police.
If a client intends to harm themselves, the therapist will make every effort to ensure their safety. If the client does not cooperate, further measures may be required.

Neurofeedback (NFB):
Everyone’s experience with neurofeedback (NFB) is different and based on their brain’s unique functioning. Research demonstrates that individuals treated for one condition, such as ADHD, can achieve their treatment goals and maintain their changes over time in 40 sessions. Most individuals come in with a multitude of symptoms. For those individuals, NFB training can be longer than 40 sessions. Individuals benefit most when they are able to come on a weekly basis, or more frequently if time and finances allow.
Biofeedback (BFB)
Everyone’s experience with biofeedback is different and their treatment plan is tailored to their unique set of symptoms. Generally speaking, most individuals have developed a set of skills to modify their physiological functioning and regulate their nervous system within 10 to 15 sessions.
Bioregulation Therapy (BRT)
Most individuals will know if BRT is working for them within four sessions, experiencing symptom relief during their session and for several days following. The effects of BRT build and most individuals feel symptom relief within 10 sessions, depending on the complexity and severity of the presenting problem.
